Enabling the geoweb

earthmine has built an entirely new data platform of immersive street imagery and associated 3D data. To provide access to this platform and to enable deveopers to build applications that leverage its unique properties we currently offer two APIs. The earthmine Flash Viewer API for immersive and interactive spatial experiences for your browser or desktop application and the Direct Data API for flexible REST style access via a web service. Both API products are currently in closed beta. If you're interested in applying to the beta program, please fill out the following beta application.

The Flash Viewer API provides an immediate value proposition to any business or organization, allowing you to generate new spatial data sets or visualize existing ones in context. earthmine’s data combines rich, high resolution street level imagery with accurate globally positioned 3D data making it ideal for both analytical tasks as well as a compelling user experience.

The Direct Data API provides a flexible framework enabling you to request, retrieve, view, and analyze earthmine imagery and 3D data. Leverage your existing geospatial data by attaching it to rich street level imagery through simple REST style http requests. Extend your geo-spatial application to consumer, enterprise, and government customers using the Direct Data API.

Direct Data API

The Flash Viewer API allows users to interact with accurate 3D data through an immersive panoramic image interface. Browse through each 50 megapixel image by panning around and zooming in; move to the next image or jump down the street to the closest view-point; view existing spatial features overlaid on real imagery; create new geo-referenced tags; take measurements; create photo realistic 3D models; all through a more complete and interactive dataset at the street level.
Featuring a comprehensive set of exposed API methods, the Flash ViewerAPI allows for complete customization and integration into any browser based or desktop application. Give users a compelling 3D experience and create value added applications by inserting custom UI elements and connecting to other datasets and services online or offline. Deliver browser based experiences using ActionScript or Flex, or create desktop applications utilizing the Adobe AIR framework.
Information created on top of earthmine data exists in true lat/lon/elev and is viewable from multiple vantage points. Import and overlay existing spatial features, POI’s and other geo-referenced content and control the visibility using advanced 3D occlusion testing. Use the Flash Viewer API for many spatial data gathering and viewing applications knowing that the result will work with outside applications. Import, export, and manage spatial data with the Flash Viewer API.

Direct Data API

Whether your application uses imagery for managing assets, business listings, planning, navigation, emergency services, or local search, use the Direct Data API to batch retrieve high quality imagery for each and every geo-coded point. Inspect the images manually, or use analytical techniques on the imagery to identify features automatically. Leverage earthmine’s imagery and 3D data to perform mapping tasks efficiently, accurately, and with impressive visual results.

The DirectData API gives access to imagery and 3D data through REST style http:// requests - meaning that each pixel and every point of earthmine data is accessible by a unique URL. Pass a 2D or 3D world coordinate to define the subject of your image, and recieve an image to add to any geo-coded dataset. Use the DirectData API in conjunction with the Flash Viewer API to create the most up to date 3D experience for your data gathering activities as well as end user presentation of data.

The Direct Data API provides you with full control over the resulting image by specifying the image height, width, and field of view. Think of the DirectData API as a virtual camera, capable of capturing a tailored image of any location that earthmine has mapped. But unlike a regular camera, each pixel in every image has an additional layer of 3D data, making it useful for both visual and quantitative applications. Image, measure, map, and 3D model with accurate scale and global positioning.
