1) Applications Engineer

We're looking for an Applications Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing, building and testing sample and custom end user applications built with earthmine's Developer Tools. You will work closely with customers providing end-user support and will help maintain earthmine's Developer Portal. You will interact with both our sales team as well as our core development team helping shape our suite of software tools.

Desired skills and qualifications:

• Extensive experience with Flash/Flex application development.
• Experience or interest in UI design .
• Experience with iPhone Application development is a bonus.
• Some fluency in an additional high-level programming language such as Python.
• Familiarity with Linux systems (Ubuntu experience a plus).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

2) Research Scientist

earthmine inc (http://www.earthmine.com) is a growing street-level 3D mapping company based in Berkeley, California.  Our technology exists at the interface of the physical and informational realms, mixing the application of electrical, mechanical, and embedded systems engineering with software technology for image processing and internet distribution.

We're looking for a Research Scientist/Developer to join our team. This is a unique role, combining aspects of research and real-world product development in a single, fast-paced job. You will be responsible for extending our core data processing engine, which transforms stereo imagery into an immersive 3D data platform.

Research and development areas include:

• Computer vision, which we use to implement sophisticated object recognition for privacy filtering and automatic asset detection.
• Image processing, to automatically merge, reproject, and optimize separate wide-angle views of a scene into a single high-resolution panorama.
• Geometry reconstruction, to deduce a simplified scene geometry from dense 3D stereo data.

Desired skills and qualifications:

• A strong research background, including a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• 3 or more years experience in professional software development.
• Fluency in C++, Python, and MATLAB.
• Experience with image processing toolkits such as OpenCV and MATLAB.
• A strong background in computer vision including familiarity with object recognition algorithms.
• Familiarity with 3D surface reconstruction techniques and 3D mesh generation algorithms.
• Experience with statistically robust data analysis for machine learning and model fitting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
